K Fangirl Fashion 101

Fangirl fashion is a unique kind of mode. It's a balance light and dark, cute and sexy, colorful and bright but most of all, pleasing to the eyes. I classify fangirl fashion into three kinds according to how the accessories , clothes and personality are paired up.  These are the Geek Fashion, the Ulzzang Fashion and the Chic Punk Fashion.

The Geek Fashion is the nerdy and typical style for fangirls. I dress up in this way most of the time for this is the easiest and the most neat look Geek fashioned fangirls wear kpop group(s)' official shirt or jacket -usually with the idols' logo in front and the name of their biases at the back bodice. These shirts may come with a variety of colors. It usually paired with either shorts or denims.

When wearing shorts or skirt, knee socks or stocking are worn to emphasize the thighs. Only light make up is being applied and usually, these fangirls wear korean style fashion glasses to make it look cuter. The hair is tied up like a two-ears style or into a pony tail, whole fixed or just let it go. Ofcourse, most fangirls prefer it with bangs like most kpop stars do. They usually pair it rubber shoes, boots or high cut shoes matched with a sling bag or backpack. This fad can also be called as "casual approach". When posing, geek-fashioned fangirls usually do the V or peace sign and do "aegyo" in an adorable way.

The Ulzzang (literally means best face) Style is the sweet, cute and doll-like kind of fangirl fashion. I only practice this manner of dressing up during kpop festivals, korea day and other kpop/cosplaying events. Ulzzang styled fangirls usually wear doll eye contact lenses, wigs, hair extensions and endearing fabulous mini dresses. Sometimes, they wear knee socks, eye glasses and ribbon-designed hair clips plus hair bangs in order to make them look more darling.

As an alternative for dresses, ulzzang-styled fangirls wear large sweaters and twee shorts paired with wedge sneakers. I recommend that you'll use pastel colors to look gleeful. These fangirls put on make up, eyeliner -preferably liquid eyeliner, mascara and false eye lashes to appear delightful. of course, the lipstick should be cherry, pink plum or rosy glow in shade to make your lips appear cute. Ulzzang-styled fangirls pose while doing a "pout" or with a very light darling smile. Most fangirls who often dress up in this mode are either cosplayers or cover group members.

The Chic Punk Fashion is a fierce, sexy and matured kind of approach. Usually, this fashion comprises a "rock and roll" or "hip-hop" theme. Chic punk fangirls usually wear dark-and-wild-colored customized and designed shirts, ripped jeans or shorts, a jacket tied around the waist, combat boots and large accessories matched with a shaggy and red/orange/brown/ombre dyed hair. I dress up in this style whenever I join kpop dance battles or even cosplaying events. Chic-punk-styled fangirls wear dark make up, thick eyeliner to emphasize the expression of the eyes and a dark red lipstick to make it look sexy. To coincide with their fashion, these fangirls usually pose with a fierce look.

There are still more kinds of how a kpop fangirl dresses like - depending on their tastes. The ones I've shown are the basic and common category. It is not necessarily required for every fangirl to dress up like this all the time. It depends on the beholder on what she's going to wear and what she's comfortable of. Everyone is a fashion designer in their own creative way. Thus, fangirl fashion is the combination of every fangirl's artistry in designing attires.
